Path to promotion?

Being interviewed? Why should they give you the job?

Say the answer aloud to yourself a couple of times.

It's not just why you want the job - it's why you should get the job?

Can you articulate this really clearly? once you believe it - "they" will too.

As always, if you want some support considering your careeer - very happy to have a no obligation exploratory discussion.

Last week I'd had this discussion with a client, she had the first phone interview - they only asked one question, why should I give you the job?  She got a face to face interview and a job offer!

Toe in the water or jump right in?

A past colleague once said "its a bit like housework - it gets messy before it gets better"!

I was reflecting on that as I started an office tidy up, filing and organising session. I was thinking I just had to do the "pile of paperwork" - when really what I needed was to adopt a new filing system and move some of the the furniture around!

It got messy, lots had to be done before it looked better!  Ah, HUGE reward -  the payoff for jumping right in ( well after many months of looking at the pile of paper!).

Is there something you're tackling in a half hearted way?

What is it? Is there an area of your life or leadership that requires more than a toe in the water?

Have you dabbled, struggled on, had a few false starts?!  Maybe now is the right to jump right in?  With commitment?   Create the change you desire.

End of year ambitions

Now's the opportunity to ramp up momentum, to act on and achieve some "end of year ambitions"

1. What do you want to achieve? Name 3 prioities for YOU before the end of the year.

2. What is the action plan? State the actions/ tasks required to get there.

3. What is the first step? When will you do it by?

Simple, not rocket science .... yet why does time whizz by despite our best intentions. Don't get caught out.  You still have time to achieve some important priorities for you this year. There is so much that is possible with clarity and application.  Start now...

Liveliehood or lifestyle or both?

Yes a common discussion in coaching ......

What if I can't get a job I'd enjoy?  Am I begin realistic? Is it possible?

I've got responsibilities - I need a certain amount of income.

I believe both are possible and I've seen my clients achieve career transition shifts, find new jobs, organisation's, cultures that suit them, their skills, experience, personal qualities and their values.  I've made the shift myself.

Yes - it can be done, it may take effort and hard work and energy - and it may be easier than you think! Only if you take a step or action towards a new horizon will you know.  What will happen if you do nothing?

All it takes is for you to do something about it rather than think about it.

Coaching provides you a catalyst, a picture of where you want to get to - and a plan of action as to how you might get there!

Being bored, frustrated, stressed, anxious - you may as well put that energy and emotion to something positive for your life and career.

If you believed it was possible what would you be doing?  Think of one action and do it, get started and build some momentum.

If you want to talk about how coaching could support you, get in touch for an exploratory chat.

How's my leadership this year?

So a check in with myself - how am I doing?

For the context of where I am now - how is my leadership?

What has been happening in the last 6 months, what's the results, what's the feedback, are my team in a "good place."  ?

Am I in a good place?

Thinking of my organisation or business - what's needed right now in terms of leadership, what's needed for the future?

As I reflect just for a few moments. What's happening?

How am I feeling responding to these questions and thoughts? Am I excited, despondent, indifferent?

How do I feel?  Am I apprehensive, worried, challenged, inspired?

What one thing if I did,  or did differently,  would have the most impact for me, my team and organsiation?

Am I ready to take that next step. What one thing would make the biggest difference for the rest of this year, it could be SO worthwhile to take action, not just think about it.

Yes, let me really ENJOY my leadership, move into the next season, expand my range of leadership for what is needed right now and moving into the future.
